It is with joy and a twinge of sadness that we say goodbye to Edwin M. Salamanca, M.D., one of the pillars of Heart of Florida OB/GYN Associates. Dr. Salamanca has devoted over three decades to caring for women throughout their pregnancies to the delivery of their baby, and women’s reproductive care in general.
Dr. Salamanca not only was an Army brat growing up, but he practiced OB/GYN with the Air Force for three years. He was in private practice for five years in Lake Wales before joining Heart Of Florida OB/GYN in 1998. On his way to becoming an OBGYN, Dr. Salamanca lived in Puerto Rico, Arkansas, Germany, and New York.
Dr. Salamanca received his B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico. He went on to receive his medical degree from Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico. His residency training was at the Catholic Medical Center, New York, Brooklyn and Queens, Inc. (affiliated with Cornell University); and Ponce Regional Hospital in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
In addition, Dr. Salamanca is an Associate Professor at the University of Central Florida School of Medicine. He retired in September 2019 to spend time with his wife Teresa, his three children, Manual, Juan, and Maria, their families, and his grandson Lucas.
We want to thank Dr. Salamanca for his devoted medical service and wish him well in the next phase of his life.
